CLARKSVILLE - Austin Peay State University's beach volleyball team will host its first home events of the season with a doubleheader against Southern Miss, Thursday, before hosting five universities in the Governors Challenge, Friday and Saturday, at the Govs Beach Volleyball Complex.

The Governors will look to bounce back from their slow start to the season after going 0-4 at the March to May Invitational last weekend. They start the homestand with a doubleheader against Southern Miss set to begin 2 p.m., Thursday. The Golden Eagles (2-11) are also coming off an 0-4 performance at the March to May, including results against common opponents Spring Hill and Georgia State.

Austin Peay then plays host to Southern Miss, Jacksonville State, Central Arkansas, Missouri Baptist and Tusculum in the Governors Challenge, Friday and Saturday. Each team will play three matches, with the Govs first appearance scheduled for noon, Friday, against Tusculum. The Pioneers started their season 3-1 but were inactive last weekend.

The Govs return to the courts 8 a.m., Saturday, to take on Missouri Baptist in the first match of the day. The Spartans (1-5) are coming off a sweep against Principia, Tuesday, after being swept in their first five matches of the season. The Govs will head back to the courts at noon to face off against a Central Arkansas team that will be seeing its first action of the season this weekend.
