TALLAHASSEE, FL – Austin Peay State University's beach volleyball team fell against a pair of top 10 nationally-ranked teams, Friday, at the Seminole Beach Battle.
The Governors struggled early in the first match against No. 10 Stetson, Friday morning. Stetson improved to 13-3 after defeating APSU, 5-0. In the No. 1 pairing, Ciera Koons and Ginny Gerig battled the Hatters' Sunniva Helland-Hansen and Carly Perales in an exciting second set, forcing extra volleys, but eventually fell 21-16, 23-21
The Govs then faced third-ranked and event host Florida State in the early afternoon. The Governors were not able to secure a point against the 2018 national runners-up, but in the No. 2 pairing, Jenna Panning and Brooke Moore played a gutsy second set, forcing extra volleys, though they ultimately fell to the Seminoles' Devan Hultquist and Payton Rund, 21-13, 25-23.
The Governors will take on No. 15 ranked Arizona Wildcats to finish off the Seminole Beach Battle 8:30 a.m. CT, Saturday. Be sure to follow the Govs on Twitter @AustinPeayBVB for updates on the Seminole Beach Battle.
