CLARKSVILLE – Austin Peay State University's beach volleyball team returns home to host the Governors Beach Bash, beginning Friday afternoon. The Governors will face Lincoln Memorial, Carson-Newman, Eastern Kentucky, Georgia State throughout the weekend.
Austin Peay's first match in the Govs Beach Bash will be a noon, Friday contest against Lincoln Memorial (4-6). This will be the third straight season that the Govs and Railsplitters will face off against each other, with the Govs taking the previous two matches, both ending 3-2.
The next opponent for the Governors will be Carson-Newman (2-18) at 4 p.m. This will be the fourth matchup between the Govs and Eagles with the Govs leading the all-time series 3-0. Carson-Newman has lost its last five matches after beating Eastern Kentucky to pick its only two wins of the season.
The Govs Beach Bash continues 9 a.m., Saturday, as the Govs face Eastern Kentucky. EKU (1-11) has lost its last three matches, including one against a foe in the Govs Beach Bash, Carson-Newman. The matchup Saturday will the first time the Govs face the Colonels in program history.
The final opponent for the Govs will be No. 16 Georgia State, 5 p.m. Saturday. This will be the third all-time meeting between the Govs and Panthers - and second this season - with the Panthers up 2-0 in the series.
