APSU-Murray State game still on – in compliance with Governor’s Order

December 20, 2020

CLARKSVILLE – After consultation with state, local, and University officials, Austin Peay State University men's basketball contest against Murray State – scheduled for 8 p.m., Monday at the Dunn Center – will be played with fans permitted in accordance with Governor Bill Lee's recent order, and all policies currently in place.

"We look forward to hosting Murray State, ESPN, and our fans to the Dunn Center tomorrow night for another exciting chapter in one of the best rivalries in college basketball," said Austin Peay Director of Athletics Gerald Harrison. "We will host the game with the expectation our fans will follow all the policies we have been enforcing all season. We believe those policies provide an opportunity for our fans to watch games in person while mitigating the risk factors associated with the coronavirus and COVID-19."

Sunday night, Gov. Lee announced a new 10-person public gathering restriction in a live video address. However, his signed executive order permits athletic events with appropriate policies to mitigate the risk factors associated with the coronavirus and COVID-19.

Austin Peay is holding basketball games at the Dunn Center in accordance with University, NCAA, and OVC guidelines. Additionally, the following policies are in effect for fans at Austin Peay basketball events:

  • Face coverings are required upon entry into the Dunn Center and must be worn at all times – covering both an individual's mouth and nose – while in the facility, except while actively eating or drinking.
  • Austin Peay reduced seating capacity to 35 percent, with the following changes:
    • No lower-bowl seating is available;
    • Reserved seating is on the second floor with available seats specifically marked to ensure social distancing;
    • General admission seating is on the Dunn Center's third floor, and fans will be required to maintain proper social distancing.
  • Concessions will be available in the front lobby, with limited food and beverage items available.

Austin Peay will strictly maintain social distancing measures in the Dunn Center this season for the safety of fans, players, coaches, and staff. Individuals violating any of the above policies will be required to leave the facility.

Fans may watch the game live on ESPNU or via the ESPN App. Fans also may listen to the radio broadcast on ESPN Clarksville, available over the air on 104.1 FM & 540 AM in the Clarksville-Montgomery County area or by downloading the TuneIn App on their mobile device anywhere else in the world.
