BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Austin Peay State University freshman Eliza Dees and senior Caroline Waite were named the Ohio Valley Conference's Beach Volleyball Pair of the Week, Tuesday, becoming the first Govs to earn the league's weekly beach volleyball honor.
Dees, of Marietta, Georgia and Waite, of Columbus, Ohio helped Austin Peay open its 2020 campaign with an unbeaten 4-0 stay at the Central Arkansas tournament, last weekend. The pair were the only Govs pairing to march through the tournament unbeaten.
Dees and Waite swept their matches against North Alabama, Hendrix and Park. They dropped the opening set to host Central Arkansas, but rallied to win the second set and won the third in overtime. Their comeback helped the Govs hand the Sugar Bears their first loss of 2020.
Austin Peay returns to action this weekend when it travels to Florida for the Beach Burrow Bash hosted by Florida Atlantic. There they will face host FAU, which is ranked No. 12 in the AVCA Poll, as well as Florida Gulf Coast, UNC Wilmington and Webber International.
