As you've likely heard, we don't have any live-action contests to cover at LetsGoPeay.com right now. What we do have is free time; oodles and oodles of free time. Enough free time to swap oodles of emails with various people who would know to create a snapshot of the best athletes in Austin Peay men's tennis history. The list rolls on with the only player in program history to be named an All-OVC First Team selection four times.
Since the Ohio Valley Conference designated First-Team and Second-Team All-OVC selections for tennis in 2005, only two players have earned First-Team honors in all four seasons, and the most recent to do so was Jasmin Ademovic.
Ademovic came to Clarksville by way of Sarajevo, Bosnia, and had an immediate impact on Governors tennis. In his freshman season, Ademovic posted a 16-10 singles record while playing in the No. 1 or No. 2 position, he also went 5-1 in OVC. Playing in the No. 2 doubles pairing, Ademovic tallied an 18-8 record and teamed up with fellow freshman Remi Calleja to go 4-2 in OVC play. This stellar start to his career led to Ademovic being the first, and only, Gov to be named OVC Freshman of the Year, he also picked up First-Team All-OVC honors in the process.
In his sophomore campaign, Ademovic battled through injuries early, but would make his way back to the top of the Governors lineup just in time to go a perfect 7-0 in OVC action. Ademovic closed out the season by winning eight of his last nine matches, to once again secure a First-Team All-OVC selection.
The 2013 season may very well have been the best in the career of Ademovic, as he helped lead the Governors to their first OVC Championship since 1974. The junior from Bosnia went 14-6 in singles play, including an 8-1 mark in league play, while spending the majority of his time on the No. 2 line. In doubles action, Ademovic teamed up with Sean Bailey to form one of the most formidable pairings in league history, as the dup proceeded to post a 14-4 mark for the season. To cap off the championship season, Ademovic picked up his third-consecutive First-Team All-OVC selection.
Injuries once again hampered Ademovic in his final season, but he battled his way back onto the court to post an 8-5 record while playing in the No. 1 position. In OVC action, Ademovic played to a 5-3 record, which was enough to earn him a historic fourth First-Team All-OVC selection.
Ademovic is one of five Governors in program history to earn four All-OVC selections, the difference is that the other four Govs did it with a combination of First-Team and Second-Team selections. The consistency to earn exclusively First-Team All-OVC selections for four-straight seasons is what separates Ademovic not only from other Governors, but his OVC peers as well.
