Saturday night, a nation cast its eyes upon Austin Peay.
Despite the difficulty, the Govs and Central Arkansas squared off at the historic Cramton Bowl for the first college sporting event since March.
On ESPN. A national audience. Hungry for football. Which our Govs were there to provide.
And boy what a start it was.
For those new to our particular ouevre, yes we know the logo is Angry Monopoly Man to some and yes, we're well aware that Lets Go Peay! is a funny kind of cheer.
We also have a lot of talent. And a quarterback with a striking resemblance to Zac Efron.
Our turnover accoutrement was the stuff of amusement, but only because we got to deploy it often.
Befitting opening night, it came down to the wire, and the Govs had a chance to stake their claim as undisputed No. 1 for a couple of weeks (at least).
The result didn't go our way, but in the end that didn't matter so much. We got back on the field. And we look forward to doing it again two weeks from now.
