Coming off a 2022 season where the Governors posted their third 30-win season, over the last four non-COVID seasons, Austin Peay State University's softball team heads into the 2023 season with high expectations and a work ethic to match. This is 'Dugout Dish' a blog where each student-athlete on the team takes an opportunity to write a post highlighting the goings on of the squad, beginning with fall training and continuing all the way through the regular season.
Hi everyone! My name is Jacklyn Zuege and I'm a freshman infielder from Louisville, Kentucky, majoring in Criminal Justice.
Today the Govs softball team had our annual Holiday Party. We met at our club house where we were given delicious Chick-fil-a.
Our coaches got us the nicest shorts and a t-shirt for Christmas as well as tickets to see the Nashville Predators pro hockey team!
We then had a secret Santa sock exchange. There were all kinds of socks ranging from sharks to Christmas unicorns!
After wrapping up secret Santa we piled into vans and headed out to Nashville.
Once In Nashville, we headed into Bridgestone Arena to watch the Nashville Predators play. It was such a great game.
The team had so much fun dancing and cheering. We even made it on the jumbo screen!
We enjoyed numerous treats the concessions had to offer such as Dippin' dots and walking tacos.
Before we knew it the game was tied 1-1 and went into overtime.
The Predators managed to score a goal in overtime and take the win over the Anaheim Ducks. We then piled back into the vans and departed back to Clarksville!
We had such a wonderful time. It's so awesome to be able to hang out with your team outside of softball and bond. I hope everyone has a happy holiday and…. LET'S GO PEAY!!!
