CLARKSVILLE – Austin Peay State University Vice President/Director of Athletics Gerald Harrison has pledged to donate $1 for every single-game ticket sold across all athletic programs in the 2022-23 academic year with proceeds benefiting University gap scholarship recipients.

After receiving a contract extension and the new title of vice president, Feb. 25, Harrison's pledge shows the impact of the "Total Gov Concept" beyond the walls of the University's athletics department.

"Often we have the opportunity to do outstanding things for our student-athletes to enhance their collegiate experience," Harrison said. "Now we have the chance to support our Austin Peay students that may need a little help closing the financial gap."

Harrison has led Austin Peay Athletics to unparalleled success and growth both in the classroom and on the field since arriving in 2018.

Academically, APSU student-athletes have recorded record-breaking grade-point averages in each of the last five semesters, while the Governors have captured six Ohio Valley Conference championships under Harrison's guidance and look for even greater success after joining the ASUN Conference in July.

With this donation, Athletics is directly impacting the lives of students returning to the classroom in hopes of completing their degrees.

"Funding for gap scholarships is critical to helping our students cross the ultimate finish line, the graduation stage," said Austin Peay Provost and Senior Vice President Dr. Maria Cronley.

Austin Peay President Michael Licari thanked Harrison for his continued contributions to the University and its community.

"I greatly appreciate Gerald's work to further the goals of the entire university, and his support of our student success initiatives," Licari said. "His leadership provides an example of how collegiate athletics can be a powerful, positive member of the campus community."

In addition to APSU Athletics' pledge, Harrison, his wife Lisa, and daughters Torri and Lorri will donate $5,000 toward gap scholarships as well.

Fans can purchase tickets online at LetsGoPeay.com/BuyTickets or by calling the Austin Peay Ticket Office at 931-221-PEAY (7329). More information on season and single-game tickets can also be found online.

"It's exciting to partner with Dr. Licari and Provost Cronley on this new initiative," Harrison concluded. "It's truly a great time to be a Gov."
