CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Austin Peay State University head women's golf coach Jessica Combs has announced the addition of Abby Jimenez for the 2024-25 academic and athletic year.
"I am so excited for Abby to officially become a Governor," said Combs. "Her personality and competitive spirit will fit right in with the rest of us. She will be a great addition to the squad next fall!"
Jimenez, a native of San Antonio, Texas, was a four-year letterwinner at Claudia Taylor "Lady Bird" Johnson High School. Jimenez was a second team all-district selection as a freshman and sophomore before earning first team honors during her junior season. She also was a 6A Regional qualifier during her sophomore and junior seasons.
Johnson also helped the Jaguars to district runner-up finishes in her freshman, sophomore, and junior seasons while helping the team place fourth at the 6A Regionals during her sophomore and junior seasons.
During her prep career, Jimenez played to a 75.0 stroke average with a personal best of one-under 71.
Jimenez placed third at the 2023 Southern Texas Regional Qualifier for the Notah Begay III Jr. Golf National Championship. On the South Texas PGA Prestige Tour, Jimenez posted four top-10 finishes in 2023, highlighted by a fourth-place finish at the Winter Showdown at Hyatt Hill Country Resort.
In six events on the Texas Junior Golf Tour, Jimenez recorded three top-10 finishes, including a runner-up finish at the Olmos Winter Classic and a fifth-place finish at the Texas Junior Match Play. Finally, on the Texas Legends Tour, Jimenez placed fourth at the Lanny Wadkins Junior Championship.
Austin Peay women's golf is back in action when it tees off at Samford's Huntsville.org Intercollegiate, March 4-6, at the Highland's Course at Hampton Cove on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail in Owens Cross Roads, Alabama.
