Coming off a 2023 campaign where the Governors posted a program record fifth-straight full season with a winning record, as well as a berth into the ASUN Conference post-season tournament in their first year as a conference member, Austin Peay State University's softball team heads into the 2024 season with high expectations and a work ethic to match. This is 'Dugout Dish' a blog where each student-athlete on the team takes an opportunity to write a post highlighting the goings on of the squad, beginning with fall training and continuing all the way through the regular season.

I'm Payton Harris a freshman pitcher on the APSU softball team. I am currently majoring in Kinesiology which I will use later to get into physical therapy school.
I just wanted to update everyone on these next few weeks for us softball girls!
On November 28th we had our annual holiday party which our amazing friend Joe Maynard helped us with. The whole team went to Shelby's Trio and ate some of the most amazing Italian food I have ever ate.
We celebrated the team and even did some sock exchanges for each of the players and staff.
Then at the end of the party Coach K surprised the team with our new uniforms!
Moving on from the party and this past week us girls are getting ready for finals. All of APSU has study days Dec 7th and 8th and then the week of the 11th is when finals begin.
We are all working very hard to ace these finals and keep our team GPA up!
It was great checking in and cannot wait to see everyone in the spring!
