CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – With the ASUN Conference season underway for baseball and softball, the Austin Peay athletics department, Five Star Radio Group, and the Hand Family Companies present the weekly Austin Peay Coaches Show featuring head baseball coach Roland Fanning and head softball coach Kassie Stanfill, 6 p.m., Monday at Buffalo Wild Wings on Wilma Rudolph Boulevard.
Fanning and Stanfill recap a successful week that saw both earn their teams' first ASUN series win. Sophomore Skylar Sheridan also joins the Austin Peay Coaches Show after tallying four hits in three starts over the weekend.
After dropping their ASUN opener to North Florida, Friday, Fanning and the baseball team answered with two-straight wins against the Ospreys to secure the series.
The Govs hit the road for four-straight games, begging with a rivalry matchup against Murray State at 5 p.m., Tuesday. Following its midweek against the Racers, Austin Peay travels to Lynchburg, Virginia for a three-game ASUN series against Liberty.
Stanfill and the softball team earned their first ASUN victory in a 3-1 win against Kennesaw State, Friday, after scoring a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. After dropping a 3-2 decision to the Owls, Saturday, the Govs won the rubber match, 4-1, Sunday.
The Govs are on the road for their next eight games, including a quartet of games this week. Following a 3 p.m., Wednesday midweek against Southern Indiana, the Govs face Queens in a three-game series this weekend, beginning with a 1 p.m. (CT) doubleheader against the Royals.
Presented weekly, the Austin Peay Coaches Show will feature Austin Peay head baseball coach Roland Fanning and head softball coach Kassie Stanfill throughout the spring season. The Austin Peay Coaches Show will air live on ESPN Clarksville (104.1 FM and 540 AM) and is simulcast online.
