Coaches Show featuring Fanning and Stanfill Monday

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – With the postseason just a couple weeks away, the Austin Peay athletics department, Five Star Radio Group and the Hand Family Companies present the weekly Austin Peay Coaches Show featuring head baseball coach Roland Fanning and head softball coach Kassie Stanfill at 6 p.m., Monday, at Buffalo Wild Wings on Wilma Rudolph Boulevard.

Fanning and Stanfill join host Brian Rives to recap both teams' weekend on the diamond.

Fanning and the baseball team kicked off their week with a 12-11 win against Western Kentucky, Tuesday, at Raymond C. Hand Park.

Austin Peay and Western Kentucky entered the ninth inning tied at 11. The Govs held WKU scoreless in the top of the frame despite WKU loading the bases for the third time,  and Garrett Martin scored a walk-off double in the bottom of the frame to lead the Govs to their 22nd win of the season.

The Govs were swept in their weekend series against ASUN-leading Florida Gulf Coast, Friday-Sunday, in Clarksville.

APSU dropped a 12-2 decision in Friday's contest before having a late comeback fall short in Saturday's 12-7 outing despite scoring six of the game's final seven runs. The Govs then dropped a back-and-forth series finale to the Eagles following Sunday's 6-5 decision.

After four-straight games in Clarksville, the Govs begin a four-game road trip this weekend when they face Central Arkansas in Conway, Arkansas. The series begins with a 12 p.m., Friday game and concludes at 1 p.m., Sunday.

Stanfill and the softball team look to bounce back in their last week of the regular season after dropping a trio of road games against Liberty over the weekend.

The Govs' first outing of the three-game series was highlighted by three Morgan Zuege hits; however, APSU was unable to overcome an early 4-0 deficit and fell 8-6 in the series opener.

Lexi Osowski-Anderson became the program's all-time runs leader following a two-run home run in the first inning against the Flames, but a late Liberty run resulted in the Flames winning the first game of the doubleheader, 11-7. Liberty then led wire-to-wire in an 11-2 victory in the second game of the doubleheader.

Austin Peay concludes their four-game road trip with a 3 p.m., Tuesday midweek at Southern Indiana before returning home for their final regular-season series.

The Govs host Jacksonville State for Senior Weekend, Friday-Saturday, at Cathi Maynard Park. The series begins with a 5 p.m., Friday contest and concludes with a Saturday doubleheader beginning at 3:30 p.m.

Presented weekly, the Austin Peay Coaches Show will feature Austin Peay head baseball coach Roland Fanning and head softball coach Kassie Stanfill throughout the spring season. The Austin Peay Coaches Show will air live on ESPN Clarksville (104.1 FM and 540 AM) and is simulcast online.
