CLARKSVILLE, Tenn.- Austin Peay State University's track and field team kicked off their season at the Commodore Challenge, Friday and Saturday.
Throwere Emma Tucker kicked off the first day of the meet when she threw a personal best in the weight throw, placing 15th at 14.38M.
Then it was Isis Banks (19th. 41.33) , Bianca Browne (27th, 42.63), and Gabrielle Miller (33rd, 43.26) who all ran personal best in the 300M.
On the second day of the Commodore Challenge, Emma Tucker and Marcia DeJesus placed seventh and 22nd in the shot put, respectively, with throws of 12.34 and 8.32 meters.
Three Governors competed in the open mile on Saturday, with Lauren Lewis (15th, 5:12.37) leading the way, followed by Shaye Foster (23rd, 5:20.75) and Jaedyn Stalnecker (35th, 5:52.14). The Govs 4x400M team of Koriona Boyd, Mia McGee, Celeania Rollerson, and Alexis Arnett closed the meet APSU, finishing 12th with a time of 4:01.97.
""Following the winter break, it was great to finally get this group out and into a competitive setting." said head coach Asha Gibson Smith. "We had several student-athletes to compete outside of their areas of comfort. We look forward to returning to work and incrementally improving each outing.
The Govs will return to action next week back in the music city, for the Vanderbilt Invitational, Jan. 19-20.
