CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – A 2019 Austin Peay State University graduate and eight-year veteran in the athletics communications industry, Casey Crigger has been promoted to the Assistant Director of Athletics for Strategic Communications and Branding, Vice President and Director of Athletics Gerald Harrison announced, Thursday.
"Casey has done a phenomenal job in covering our student-athletes since arriving in our communications office, and I am thrilled to promote him to the Assistant Athletics Director for Strategic Communications and Branding," said Harrison. "He has told our athletes' stories, covered numerous winning programs, and is always willing to go above and beyond for those around him. I am confident that he will continue to promote the 'Total Gov Concept' as he has throughout his career and help our external unit grow exponentially."

The Austin Peay Athletics Communications staff will continue to provide a breadth of coverage that is the envy of our peers as we strive to be the premier mid-major athletics department in the country."
Last year, Crigger served as Austin Peay's Director of Athletics Communications, where he was the primary contact for football, men's golf, and women's golf.
During the 2023-24 academic year, the Johnson City, Tennessee native spearheaded website and social media coverage of APSU football's 2023 United Athletic Conference Championship – the program's second-straight conference title – and FCS Playoff appearance. The program posted a department-best 11,138,000 impressions on X while reaching over 400,000 unique accounts on Instagram. In addition, the accounts combined for over 17,000 gained followers last year.
Through his coverage of the football team, Austin Peay also was named a recipient of a Digital Media Engagement award at the 2024 National Association of Collegiate Marketing Association Convention.
In addition to serving as the communications contact for his respective teams, he also was the primary photographer for APSU men's golf and women's golf, while assisting with photography duties for beach volleyball, baseball, softball, and men's and women's basketball.
Prior to serving as the Director of Athletics Communications, Crigger served as the Assistant Director of Athletics Communications, July 2021-Nov. 2022, and the Associate Director of Athletics Communications, Dec. 2022-June 2023, where served as the primary contact for football and both golf programs, while also spending time as the men's basketball, women's basketball, beach volleyball, and soccer contact during this time.
He helped in Austin Peay's transition into the Atlantic Sun Conference, wrote regular sidebar feature stories for Governors' football during its 2022 ASUN Conference Football Championship, and hosted and produced Austin Peay Athletics' podcast, "The PeayCast."
Crigger served as an Athletics Communications Assistant at APSU, July 2019-June 2021, where he was the communications contact for Govs' soccer, women's basketball, women's tennis, and men's tennis, while also serving as the secondary contact for APSU football.
Crigger began his communications career as a student intern in Aug. 2017-May 2019, assisting with stats for numerous programs and aiding with in-game social media content.
He earned a bachelor's degree in history from APSU in May 2019 and a master's degree in sports management with a concentration in sports administration from Liberty in 2020.
