CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – After earning a win in its first tournament of the season, Austin Peay State University's beach volleyball team heads east for South Carolina's Wheeler Beach Bash, Saturday, on Wheeler Beach.
Austin Peay (1-3) opens the one-day event with a 9 a.m. (CT) contest against the hosting Gamecocks (3-1) who enter the contest winners of three straight and their only loss being to No. 18 North Florida in Jacksonville, Florida to open the season.Â
Following the contest against South Carolina, Austin Peay will immediately face UAB (3-2), who opened its season with a trio of wins at Tulaney's Green Wave Invitational last weekend.Â
Last week, APSU defeated Liberty at EKU's Grand Sands Tournament for its first win of the season and first under first-year head coach Michael Hobson.Â
Following the Wheeler Beach Bash, Austin Peay will host the two-day, four-match Governors Classic, March 7-8, at the Atkins Family Beach Volleyball Facility. It will be the Govs' lone home tournament of the season, with Saturday's matches also being Senior Day.
