Columbia, S.C. – Austin Peay State University's beach volleyball team faced a tough outing at the Wheeler Beach Bash, dropping both of its matches in 5-0 sweeps against South Carolina and UAB.
Against South Carolina, the No. 1 pairing of Grace Austin and Jordan Morris fell closely 21-13, 21-15 to Jolie Cranford and Morgan Downs. The No. 2 pairing of Bailey Lasater and Alyson Cooper battled but came up short, 21-14, 21-15. Emily Freel and Anna Kate Clark (Court 3), Jordyn Beneteau and Gabriella MacKenzie (Court 4), and Angelena Greene and Emma Loiars (Court 5) were also unable to overcome their opponents, as South Carolina secured the sweep.
In the match against UAB, Austin and Morris fell 21-13, 21-8 on Court 1, while Cooper and Lasater dropped their match 21-14, 21-15 on Court 2. Freel and Clark (No. 3), the Govs were unable to notch a win, as the Blazers claimed a 5-0 victory.
Austin Peay returns to Clarksville for its home tournament, the Governors Classic, March 7.
