Govs Head to Florence for Four-Match UNA Tournament

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – After hosting its lone home matches of the season last weekend, Austin Peay State University's beach volleyball team returns to the road four a quartet of games at North Alabama's Shoals Beach Bash, Friday-Saturday, at the UNA Beach Volleyball Courts.

Austin Peay (2-8) opens UNA's event with an 8 a.m., Friday match against Missouri State before turning its attention to a 2 p.m. contest against Chattanooga that afternoon. The following day, the Govs face host North Alabama at 10 a.m., before concluding the event against Tusculum at 2 p.m.

Austin Peay earned a 3-2 victory against Lindenwood at last weekend's Governors Classic, but fell in a pair of narrow, 3-2 decisions to the Lions and Central Arkansas on the final day of the four-match weekend.

The Governors' match against Missouri State (8-0) is the second all-time meeting between the two in program history and the first since APSU dropped a 3-2 decision to the Bears last season (4/12/24). This season, MSU has gone unbeaten through its eight matches – all at home –  and has not allowed a single point across any contest.

APSU and Chattanooga (7-2) meet in the sand for the 12th time in program history, with the Mocs leading the all-time series 6-5 following a trio of wins over APSU last season. UTC has won five-straight matches entering UNA's event, with their last loss coming at No. 19 North Florida, March 1.

North Alabama (7-5) is coming off a 4-1 weekend at UAB's The March To May Tournament, with its lone loss coming to the hosting Blazers. Each of their wins in the event – UT Martin, New Orleans, Eastern Kentucky – came in 5-0 victories.

Tusculum (4-4) is coming off a 1-1 weekend at the TU Tri-Match, where they dropped a 5-0 decision to Chattanooga, but swept Lynchburg on Senior Day.

After a week off, Austin Peay heads to the Sunshine State for the ASUN Crossover Weekend, where they'll face league foes North Florida, Stetson, Jacksonville, and Florida Gulf Coast in the two-day, four-match event, March 28-29, in Jacksonville, Florida
