CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – With another pair of Atlantic Sun Conference series in the books, Austin Peay State University's Athletics Department and Five Star Radio Group present the weekly Austin Peay Coaches Show with assistant softball coach Caleb Toshcoff and head baseball coach, Roland Fanning at 6 p.m., Monday, at Buffalo Wild Wings on Wilma Rudolph Boulevard.
Student-athletes Kiley Hinton and John Bay will also join host Brian Rives to recap the third weekend of ASUN Conference play and look ahead to a pair of home series on the diamond.
The softball team dropped a 2-1 series against Central Arkansas over the weekend. After falling in a 16-15 offensive clash on Friday in which the Bears were able to score three runs in the bottom of the seventh, the Governors answered back, run-ruling the bears in five innings for a 9-1 victory Saturday; however, they dropped the rubber match, 12-3, Sunday.
At 28-6 overall, Austin Peay has the most wins in the ASUN's Gold Division and the second-most in the league, trailing only North Florida's 29.
A sophomore out of Mishawaka, Indiana, Hinton has made 33 starts at second base for the Governos where she has over doubled nearly every mark from her freshman campaign that saw her make 29 starts across 35 appearances.
Hinton leads Austin Peay with 12 doubles, while ranking second on the team in hits (36), slugging percentage (.726), and batting average (.379), third in home runs (7), RBI (26), and on-base percentage (.416).
Up next, the Govs begin a three-game series against Bellarmine with a 4 p.m., Friday contest against the Knights at Cath Maynard Park.
Fanning and the baseball team extended the team's winning streak to nine-straight after a perfect, 3-0 weekend against Bellarmine after reaching double-figures in scoring across each contest.
The Govs combined to outscore the Knights 24-4 in a Friday doubleheader, including an 11-1, seven-inning win in the nightcap. The following day, the Governors then earned a 12-6 win to secure the series sweep.
Redshirt senior outfielder John Bay had five hits and seven RBI over the week while also scoring seven runs. Bay had three hits and four RBI in the series with a pair of base knocks.
The Governors return to action the weekend when they host Eastern Kentucky Friday-Sunday at Raymond C. Hand Park beginning with a 6 p.m., Friday contest against the Colonels.
