Campbell, Governors Post Top-Four Finishes at ASUN Conference Championship

OWENS CROSS ROADS, Ala. – Trailing by 15 shots to start the final round, Austin Peay State University's women's golf team shot 302 and pulled within three shots of the lead when it finished its round, but the comeback fell just short, and the Governors finished in third place with a score of 909 at the Atlantic Sun Conference Women's Golf Championship, Tuesday, on the Highlands Course at Hampton Cove.

Austin Peay's third-place finish is its best in an ASUN Conference Women's Golf Championship. Senior Kaley Campbell also finished in fourth place, which is the best individual finish by a Governor at the ASUN Championship and the best finish by a Gov at a conference championship since Erica Scutt finished third at the 2022 Ohio Valley Conference Championship.

Austin Peay finished four shots behind Florida Gulf Coast and Stetson, who were tied after 54 holes before Eagles won the title in a playoff. The Governors also beat fourth-place Lipscomb by one stroke and were 13 strokes ahead of fifth-place Eastern Kentucky. Florida Gulf Coast's Lousiane Gauthier was the individual medalist with a score of even-par 216.

Campbell used a pair of birdies and an eagle on the par-five 17th hole to shoot two-over 74 and pick up four spots on the leaderboard in the final round. Campbell finished the tournament in fourth place with a score of 223 and earned ASUN Women's Golf All-Tournament Team honors,

Abby Hirtzel also picked up six spots on the leaderboard in the final round, shooting a four-over 76 to finish tied for 11th – matching the best finish of her career – with a score of 227. Jillian Breedlove posted the best round of the day by a Governor, shooting one-over 73 to pick up 15 spots on the field and finish tied for 13th with a score of 228.
