CALLOWAY COUNTY, Ky. – Emma Tucker and Madelyn Kocik both earned wins, with Kocik also tallying a personal best in the triple jump, as Austin Peay State University's track and field team sits in third place following the first day of Murray State's Margaret Simmons Invitational, Friday, at Roy Stewart Stadium.
Tucker earned first in the shot put with a 12.99-meter hurl, her farthest mark in the event since the 2025 Atlantic Sun Conference Indoor Championships last May. The Collierville, Tennessee native also earned third in the discus, with her mark being her second-best since the ASUN Outdoor Championships of her freshman season.
Kocik surpassed her previous career-best – set during the ASUN Indoor Championships last month – in the triple jump by seven hundredths of a meter with a 12.37-meter mark; with it also besting her previous outdoor best by 0.49 meters set during her freshman season at Houston Christian.
Sophomore Denim Goddard also earned third in the triple jump, with her mark tying for the second-best of her collegiate career. Lastly, Ja'Kyah Montgomery earned fifth in the event, also with the second-best of her career.
Austin Peay is back in action for the final day of the Margaret Simmons Invitational, Saturday.
