COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Senior Shaye Foster broke the women's cross country program record in the 4K with a 14:41, breaking the previous record which had held for 18 years by 37 seconds to highlight the Governors' trip to Tennessee Tech's Golden Eagle Invitational, Friday, at the Putnam Country Athletic Complex. 

In the women's 4K – the first time any athletes had competed in that distance during their collegiate careers – Foster paced the team, finishing 14th overall with her program-record mark. Holly Harding finished 20th for the Govs in her first cross country meet as a Gov. Laure Marie Kidukula, Taylah Upshaw, and freshman Tiesha Turner rounded out the Governors' counting scores in the meet.

The men's 5K was highlighted by Tahmar Upshaw's 15th-place finish, while Damian Huizar was the second Gov to cross the finish line in his first-collegiate meet to finish 25th overall. He was followed by Will Keefer, Jacob Schweigardt, and David Rich to round out the Govs' top five performers of the morning.

Up next, the Govs prepare for Trevecca's Michael Pretorius Invitational, Sept. 26. Last season, both programs finished third at the meet while APSU alumnae Sydney Freeman tallied the individual win on the women's side.
