As a junior in 2024-25

• Compiled a 18-14 overall singles record, with a 11-11 record in the spring and 7-3 in the fall.
• Exclusively played from the No. 1 spot, with an 11-11 record and 6-2 record in ASUN play. 
• Won six of her last 10 singles matchups. 
• Won five-straight singles matches, March 23-April 8.
• Went 14-14 in doubles play, with a 5-11 spring record and 9-3 fall record. 
• Had a 1-6 record from the No. 1 court and 4-5 record from the No. 2 court. 
• Began the spring playing with Luca Bohlen, as the pair compiled a 4-5 record.
• Ended the spring season playing alongside Denise Torrealba, compiling a 9-7 record.

As a sophomore in 2023-24

• Had a 18-12 overall singles record, going 13-7 in the spring season and 5-5 in the fall.
• Compiled a 13-4 record from the No. 3 position, going 9-1 in ASUN singles play.
• Won nine of her last 10 singles matches.
• Went 16-11 overall in doubles play, with a 10-8 record in the spring season and 6-3 in the fall. 
• Played the No. 1 spot, compiling a 10-8 record.
• Primarily played with Denise Torrealba, with a 10-8 record and winning six of their last 10 matches. 
• Won nine-straight singles matches from March 17-April 14. 

As a freshman in 2022-23:

• Went 18-2 in singles play, while playing most of the season from the No. 4 position.
• Won 15-straight singles matches, Jan. 26-March 31, the longest winning streak by a freshman in the Govs’ digital record-keeping era. 
• Her first-collegiate win came in a 6-0, 6-0 victory against Western Kentucky’s Mariana Zegada, Jan. 26.
• Went 11-7 in doubles play, including 10-3 while paired with Denise Torrealba on the No. 2 court.
• She and Torrealba won seven-straight matches, Feb. 23-March 17.

Prior to Austin Peay
The first player in program history from Kazakhstan. Prepped at Capital Whale and reached a career-high International Tennis Federation Junior Ranking of 445 in January 2021.

Sophia Baranov is the daughter of Pavel and Natalya Baranov. Her father, Pavel, played professional tennis. Has one sibling, Christopher…. Birthday is February 7.
