Biography

2009 Outlook: Will be looked to as a cornerstone to team’s defense behind the plate ... does good job of framing pitches and blocking balls in the dirt ... good communicator with teammates and directing traffic on field ... could also see time as designated player and at first base.

2008 (Sophomore): Struggled offensively in 2008 with several nagging injuries, but still appeared in 45 of 47 games, including 40 starts behind the plate ... threw out 20 runners attempting to steal, the most by a Lady Govs catcher since 1998 season ... finished second on team in multiple-hit games (7) and fourth in total hits (29) ... had career best seven-game hit streak (3/5-13), which was third best on team in 2008 ... also set single-game career best in walks versus Mercer (2/24).

2007 (Freshman): First Lady Gov to be named to the Ohio Valley Conference First-Team since 2003 and first Austin Peay catcher so named since 1994 ... appeared in 47 games, all starts, including 20 behind the plate, six at first base and 21 as a designated player ... missed 11 games because of health-related issues ... led team in batting average (.322), hits (49), doubles (10), multiple hit games (15), multiple RBI games (8), while tying for team lead with 27 RBIs ... 49 hits was school record for freshman and 10th best overall in program history ... 10 doubles were ninth best total for a single-season ... 27 RBIs tied school record for freshmen ... batting average was 11th best in OVC ... committed one error in 175 chances, setting school record in single-season for fielding percentage (.994) ... led team by throwing out seven would- be base stealers ...  recorded career-high four hits twice (George Washington 2/24, Jacksonville State 4/22) ... had team-high tying five RBIs versus Cumberland (3/7) ... twice recorded two doubles in same game (Mercer 2/23 and Cumberland 3/7) ... recorded career-high 14 putouts versus Southeast Missouri (4/14) and assists (three) versus Jacksonville State (4/21).

High School: Was a catcher for Becky Cheatham at Forrest High School ... named to the Tennessee Sports Writers All-State Team, Middle Tennessee Softball Coaches Association All-Mid-State Team and all-district team following senior season ... awarded freshman of the year and named to all-district team in 2004 ... named Best All-Around Female Senior Student ... a Volunteer Girls State delegate

Personal: Daughter of Jerry and Shelia Hooper ... birthday is Jan. 26 ... English education major ... wants to teach high school honors English after college ... Doreen (Doe) Denmon, former catcher for Raybesto’s Brakettes, is her most admired athlete.
