2008-09: As a junior, Barnes was named OVC Player of the Year with a Golfstat Adjusted Player Ranking of 54...named first-team All-OVC...Barnes holds the records for 18-, 36-, and 54-hole individual totals in the program’s history…his 18-hole 64 came at the Xavier Invitational…his 132 36-hole round and his 199 54-hole total came at the F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate…Barnes held the team's lowest scoring average with a 72.11...he won two tournaments...at the F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate he shot best total for the year (66-66-67=199), which also was the program's first-ever sub-200 round...at the UK Bluegrass Invitational he shot a 215 (72-76-67), gaining 10 spots in the final round for medalist honors...Barnes had eight top-10 finishes... he led the team with a .865 winning percentage...his career-lowest round came at the Xavier Invitational, firing a 64, the program's lowest single-round score ever...he had two second-place finishes with a 207 (68-70-69) at the Palmer's Toyota Fall Intercollegiate and a 141 (71-70) at the Grub Mart-Young Oil Intercollegiate...Barnes won the Indiana State Amateur this summer, shooting a four-round 282 total (67-71-68-76).
2007-08: As a sophomore, Barnes competed in all 11 tournaments for the Governors, with 30 of his 33 rounds counting for the team...he posted three top-10 finishes and posted the team’s second-best winning percentage (.687)...he also ranked second on the team with a 74.00 scoring average and tied for second with rounds in the 60s...opened the fall season strong at the Troy University Invitational where he fired a three-round 226 (75-75-76) to finish t-15th...Barnes did not post another solid performance until the Samford Intercollegiate where he finished t-9th with a three-round 216 (72-71-73)...he posted season-best second place finishes at the Diablo Grande Intercollegiate with a three-round 221 (78-70-73) and the Middle Tennessee Aldila Intercollegiate with a three-round 214 (76-69-
69)...at the Arkansas State Indian Classic he tied his career-low round of 67 in the first round and fired a season-low, three-round 213 to help lead the Govs to victory.
2006-2007: Earned Ohio Valley Conference Freshman of the Year and All-OVC second-team honors... competed in 10 of the Governors 11 tournaments... had a season scoring average of 72.6, ranked as the third-best single-season scoring average in Governors golf history... is currently 10th in career Par or Rounds Better (13) and 14th in player season average... after not competing in the team’s opening fall tournament, Barnes opened at the Xavier Invitational, firing a four-under-par 212 finished 18th... had his first career top-five finish at the F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate, fired a three-round 210, finishing in second place behind teammate Grant Leaver... after struggling in his opening two spring tourneys, Barnes put together his season’s best two performances, helping the Govs win the Belmont Intercollegiate by firing a career-low 206, finishing sixth taking medalist honors at the ASU Indian Classic, in Jonesboro, Ark.... in the two tournaments Barnes scoring average was a 68.6, which includes a career-low 67 in his opening round at Belmont...in the summer Barnes qualified for the U.S. Amateur hosted by the Olympic Club in San Francisco at Indian Hills Country Club... in the 36-hole qualifier in Bowling Green, Ky., Barnes fired rounds of 66-68=134, winning medalist honors.
High School: Played at Marion High School under coach Stan Stout... finished in a sixth-place tie at the 106th Indiana State Amateur, two strokes off the winning pace... Barnes, in fact, tied with Ball State’s rising senior C.D. Hockersmith for the best finish among collegiate golfers... listed as the fourth-best prep golfer in the class of 2006, according to Junior Golf Scorecard in Indiana... captured three National Plantation tour events, last one held at the University of Indiana, where Barnes shot rounds of 74-71 for a 145 total... qualified for the U.S. Junior Amateur in the summer of 2005... also placed 14th in the Indiana State Amateur, the highest finish by a junior golfer in the tournament, which helped him earn a spot on the 2005 All-State team... won his sectional with a 66, the lowest 18-hole round in the state... entered his senior season with a 73.6 stroke average, having won six high school invitational championships over the previous two seasons.
