2018 (Redshirt Senior): Led the Govs for the third-consecutive year in total tackles and finished third in the OVC during the regular season with 109… former walk-on earned First-Team All-OVC recognition – the third straight season to make it on an All-OVC team… posted a career-best seven games with double-digit tackles during the season, bringing his career total to 16 double-digit tackle games… after the second of his season-best 17 total tackles against Tennessee State (Oct. 6), became the 15th Governor to reach the 300-tackle plateau… finished his career with 364 tackles – tied for ninth all-time at APSU – and is one of just two players inside the top 10 that played after 1978… finished second on the team with 11.5 tackles for loss and tied for second with a career-best 3.5 sacks… 31.5 career tackles is eighth all-time at APSU after his final season… had 12 tackles – including 2.0 for loss and 1.0 sack – at Eastern Illinois (Nov. 10)… also had solo sacks against Morehead State (Sept. 15) and Tennessee Tech (Oct. 27)… notched 10 tackles with 2.5 for loss and half a sack against Eastern Kentucky (Nov. 3)… posted 11 stops, including 2.0 for loss, at UT Martin (Sept. 22)… had double-digit tackles in the final three games of his career: EKU, EIU and 10 stops with 1.5 for loss against Murray State (Nov. 17).
2017 (Redshirt Junior): Led the Govs in tackles from his linebacker spot for second-consecutive season, racking up 99 total stops… earned First-Team All-OVC recognition, marking the first time a Gov linebacker made the first team since Daniel Becker in 2009… led the team with 12 stops behind the line of scrimmage… recorded double-digit tackles on three occasions, including a season-high 12 against UT Martin… registered 10 total tackles at Miami University, including 1.5 tackles for loss, while also recovering a fumble and breaking up a pass… also recorded 10 tackles in the penultimate game of the season at Eastern Kentucky, including a sack… made a season-high 2.5 tackles for loss on two occasions, Week 7 at Tennessee State and Week 10 at Tennessee Tech… blocked and recovered a field goal attempt by Morehead State.
2016 (Redshirt Sophomore): Human wrecking ball registered 124 tackles, the first Gov to break the century mark since Daniel Becker (2008)—also was Austin Peay’s first All-OVC selection at linebacker since Becker (2009), earning second-team honors… tied for the OVC lead in tackles per game (11.2), finishing seventh among NCAA FCS tacklers… posted double-digit tackle totals on six occasions… made 14 total tackles (eight solo) in the season opener at Troy, Sept. 3… registered 11 tackles (1.5 for loss) and a hurry in the home opener against Tennessee Tech, Sept. 10… made 18 tackles (0.5 for loss) and picked off a pass at Eastern Illinois, Sept. 24… accounted for 13 tackles, including season’s lone sack, at UT Martin, Oct. 8… credited with nine tackles (0.5 for loss), a hurry and a pass break up at Jacksonville State, Oct. 15… amassed 13 tackles and a share of stop behind the line of scrimmage in the Oct. 22 contest against Mercer… equaled career high with 18 tackles, including 3.0 for loss, at Southeast Missouri, Oct. 29—both 18-tackle games tied for ninth in the NCAA during 2016… although held to four tackles in the season finale against Kentucky, Nov. 19, he picked off a pass and returned it 25 yards for a touchdown against the Wildcats, the only pick-six thrown by Kentucky during the 2016 season.
2015 (Redshirt Freshman): Walk-on impressed not only on the field (32 tackles) but during spring ball under the new coaching staff that he earned scholarship for the 2016 season… made multiple tackles in nine of 11 appearances… shared a pair of tackles in the opener against Mercer… made four stops (three solo) the following week at Southern Miss… made a season-high seven tackles, including season’s lone tackle for loss, at Murray State… closed the regular season with five tackles and a fumble recovery at Tennessee Tech.
High School: Redshirted his freshman season at Western Kentucky… played linebacker and fullback for Jerry Joslin at Pope John Paul II… division II-AA All-State as a senior after rushing for 500 yards on 80 carries and adding 110 tackles… all-region as a junior and senior and all-county his final three years of prep ball… selected for East-West All-Star Game… part of school-record 4x400m relay team.
Personal: Son of Tom and Susan Scholato… has two brothers, Hunter, a redshirt freshman on the 2018 team, and Pierce… born Oct. 11… plans to major in health and human performance.
