As a redshirt senior in 2020-21: Closed his career as one of just two Govs to appear in every tournament… led Austin Peay with a 73.14 first-round stroke average for the season… tied for the team high with 18 counted rounds… clinched the win at Western Kentucky on the second extra hole of match play… posted a tournament-high 41 pars at the National Intercollegiate… took runner-up honors at the Murray State Invitational with a 208, highlighted by a 69-68 in the first two rounds at Greystone Golf Club… led the Murray event with a 4.42 par-5 stroke average and drilled a team-high 15 birdies… closed his career with a 71 in the final round at the 2021 Ohio Valley Conference Men’s Golf Championships, where he finished tied for 26th overall… fired a 33 on the back nine and finished with a team-high 11 birdies in his final championship appearance.

As a senior in 2019-20: Counted 16 of 18 rounds as Austin Peay’s leader in stroke average (72.5)… team-high nine rounds at par or better, including at least one in all five fall appearances… opened season with a first-round 70 at the Sam Hall Intercollegiate… second-round 65 was the highlight of his time at the JT Poston Invitational; it marked the best round by a Gov this season and third-best during the tournament… took runner-up honors at the F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate, with three straight rounds under par and back-to-back rounds in the 60s to open play; second-place finish was a career-best as a Gov… earned a 72 on a blustery final day at the Pinetree Intercollegiate, the days fourth-best round and one that moved him up the leaderboard to 14th… unbeaten with two wins and a halve at the President’s Day Match Play Championships.

As a junior in 2018-19: Competed in 10 tournaments, with a trio of top-10 finishes… Austin Peay’s leading Round Two scorer at a 72.5 clip… tied with Chase Korte for a team-best 209 (74-67-68), the best 54-hole mark of his career, to share 14th at the Hummingbird Intercollegiate… final-round 69 brought him a share of 13th at the F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate… opened spring with a fourth-place showing at the Invitational at Savannah Harbor, shooting a 215 highlighted by a second-round 69, to give the Govs runner-up honors; Busse led the tournament in par-5 scoring, shooting 4.67 per hole… scored his second top-10 of the spring with a 222 at the Jackrabbit Invitational, aided by a final-round 71… ended his campaign with a tie for 10th at the 2019 Ohio Valley Conference Men’s Golf Championships, firing a 214 (70-71-73).

As a sophomore in 2017-18: One of two Govs to appear in all 12 tournaments, made great strides in his second season… had two top-20 finishes during the fall slate, at the Raising Canes Intercollegiate (17th, 72-71-70—213) and the MTSU Intercollegiate (14th, 72-72—149)… opened the spring slate with a career-best third-place finish at the Invitational at Savannah Harbor, shooting 212 (74-68-70), including a career-low 68 in the second round… earned first career adidas® Ohio Valley Conference Men’s Golfer of the Week honor for his work at Savannah Harbor… that kicked off a stretch of three consecutive top-10 finishes, beginning at Savannah Harbor and continuing at the Fort Lauderdale Intercollegiate (ninth, 70-72-74—216) and Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate (10th, 70-72-73—215)… closed season with a 17th-place finish at the 2018 Ohio Valley Conference Men’s Golf Championships, shooting 222 (74-74-74).

2016-17: Talented youngster poised to insert himself into the regular lineup after strong first campaign… saw action in five tournaments, two in the lineup, as a freshman… opened the Skyhawk Classic with a season-best round of 73… opened and closed the F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate with rounds in the 70s (76-83-79)… posted three rounds in the 70s to close his campaign at the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate (76-77-77), which included his best 54-hole score (230) and best finish (40th).

Prior to Austin Peay: Second-ranked golfer in Michigan for the Class of 2016... three-time All-State performer at Rochester Hills High School under the tutelage of Paul Marti... finished sixth overall at the 2015 MHSAA LP Division 1 state championship, carding a 149 (72-77)... second out of 72 golfers at the Randy Wise Open (Warwick Hills Golf and Country Club) and sixth at the USGA Junior Qualifier in Auburn Hills, shooting 70-75... posted a final-round 67 in the final round of the AJGA Junior at Forest Lake.

Personal: Son of Perry and Mary Jo Busse... father played golf at Northern Iowa, while mother played golf at Iowa State... has one sister, Brooke... born Feb. 17... business management graduate... married to former Austin Peay volleyball player Ginny Gerig.
