Career Recap: Austin Peay

As a redshirt senior in 2020-21:

Spring Season

  • Played exclusively the No. 3 doubles position, picking up five victories alongside Honoka Nakanishi.
  • While used mainly in doubles, defeated Eastern Illinois’ Lauren Ellis in the final singles match of her career on Senior Day.
  • Finished her Austin Peay career with 33 singles and 32 doubles victories.

As a senior in 2019-20:

Spring Season

  • Played exclusively in the No. 6 singles position, posting a 5-2 mark in the shortened season.
  • Played doubles exclusively with Sarah Heckel, posting 9-1 record, the best of any Govs duo in the spring.
  • Dropped her first singles match of the spring, before reeling off four-straight wins.
  • Started the season with a six-match doubles winning streak from the No. 3 position.

Fall Season

  • Went 6-3 in singles action during the fall tournament season.
  • Won her first two matches in the Flight Three Singles Draw at the APSU Fall Invitational, before falling in the semifinal match.
  • Went 2-1 at the UCA Fall Classic, winning a quarterfinal match in the Flight Five Singles Draw and a consolation match.
  • Lost her opening match in the Main Singles Draw at the ITA Ohio Valley Regional, before picking up a pair of consolation wins.

As a junior in 2018-19:

Spring Season

  • Went 2-2 in the spring in singles.
  • Defeated Carson-Newman’s Klara Vuckovic (6-2, 6-3) and IUPUI’s Samantha Hayward (7-6, 6-0) in straight sets.

Fall Season

  • Finished with a 2-4 singles record.
  • Defeated Belmont’s Nikki Christiansen in straight sets (6-3, 6-3).

As a sophomore in 2017-18:

Spring Season

  • Mainly played at No. 4 singles, compiling a 5-5 regular season record.
  • Won three straight conference matches, capped off by defeating Eastern Illinois's Abby Carpenter 5-7, 6-2, 10-8.
  • Went 4-4 with Helena Kuppig at No. 2 doubles.

Fall Season

  • Went 5-3 in singles, winning five of six matches to start the season.
  • Defeated Belmont’s Sarah Beth Crowe in a three-set thriller 4-6, 6-1, 10-6 at the APSU Fall Invitational.
  • Teamed with Helena Kuppig once again in doubles that led to a 4-2 record.

As a freshman in 2016-17

Spring Season

  • Started out OVC doubles play by winning first three matches.
  • Played entire doubles season at #1 or #2 with Helena Kuppig, going 6-5 overall and 4-2 in OVC play.
  • Also finished 4-4 in OVC singles play, including a comeback win against Jacksonville State’s Malin Buechner 6-7 (7-9), 6-0, 12-10 on March 25.

Fall Season

  • Finished second place in APSU Invitational Flight 2 Singles.
  • Also finished second at the USC Upstate Invitational.
  • Defeated USC Upstate’s Carol Sigaki 6-1, 6-7 (3), 12-10 and Presbyterian College’s Nicole Croxton 7-5, 5-7, 11-9 in two epic matches at the USC Upstate Invitational.

Prior to Austin Peay

A four-time All-Conference selection under coach Billy Morgan at Etowah High School… She was an All-State and All-County selection during her four years… Led her team to a 6A Region Championship in 2016… Was inducted into the Cherokee County Sports Hall of Fame: Outstanding Senior Athlete… Also played soccer and volleyball in high school.

Personal

Daughter of Scott and Denita Albertson… has three siblings, Anders, Britta, and Ingrid... her brother, Anders, played golf at Georgia Tech and currently is on the PGA Tour… born May 8… graduated with a B.B.A. in Accounting in May of 2020... is now working towards a Management M.S.
