Career Recap: Austin Peay
As a senior in 2020-21:
Spring Season
- Named the No. 1 player on the 2021 OVC Women’s Tennis Preseason Top-10 List.
- Began the season with 10-straight doubles victories alongside Danielle Morris as the duo finished with a team-high 12 wins.
- Defeated Southeast Missouri’s Romana Tarajova – the 2021 OVC Player of the Year – in three sets in the OVC Tournament Championship to help the Governors comeback and win their second-straight title.
- One of the most decorated student-athletes in program history, finished her Austin Peay career with 67 singles and 58 doubles victories, including 18 singles and 14 doubles victories in conference play.
- One of two players to be named OVC Player of the Week twice in 2021, receiving the honor on March 10 and March 31.
- Earned the third All-OVC honor of her career with a second-team selection, finishing her Austin Peay career having been named to an All-OVC team in each season that awards were given.
As a junior in 2019-20:
Spring Season
- Named the No. 2 player on the 2020 OVC Women’s Tennis Preseason Top-10 List.
- Played exclusively in the No. 1 singles position, playing to a 9-2 record in the shortened season.
- Started the spring season on a seven-match winning streak, and won nine-straight singles matches dating back to the fall.
- Led the Govs with 18 doubles wins across the fall and spring seasons, posting a 10-2 mark in the shortened spring season.
- Played solely in the No. 2 doubles position, partnering with Aleks Topalovic and Martina Paladini-Jennings to post records of 7-2 and 3-0, respectively.
Fall Season
- Posted a 7-1 mark in fall tournament singles play.
- Paired exclusively with Danielle Morris in the fall doubles action to post a team-best 8-2 mark.
- Went 3-0 in doubles play at the APSU Fall Invitational to take home the Flight One Doubles title.
- Went 4-0, without dropping a set, to win the Flight One Singles title at the APSU Fall Invitational.
- Went 3-1 in doubles action at the ITA Ohio Valley Regional, knocking off the No. 5 seeded duo from Tennessee before falling in the quarterfinals.
As a sophomore in 2018-19:
Spring Season
- Missed the start of the season due to injury, but returned to win her final 12 singles matches.
- Went 10-2 in doubles, primarily with Danielle Morris at the No. 3 spot.
- Defeated UT Martin’s Amelia Campbell in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2, in the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament Championship Match.
Fall Season
- Went 7-3 in singles and 5-2 in doubles.
- Won the Flight A Doubles competition at the home APSU Invitational.
- Advanced to the Flight A Singles Final at the APSU Invitational.
- With partner Tatiana Lopez, earned the No. 15 overall seed in the Flight A Doubles draw at the ITA Ohio Valley Regionals, advancing to the second round
As a freshman in 2017-18:
Spring Season
- Named OVC Freshman of the Year, becoming the third Gov in history to win the award.
- Named First-Team All-OVC.
- Played almost every singles match at the No. 2 position, going 12-4 and 14-4 overall in singles.
- Defeated two players that were selected in the OVC Preseason Top 10 Rankings and went 7-2 in OVC singles play.
- Went 10-5 in doubles at all positions with a 4-3 OVC mark.
Fall Season
- Went 6-1 in singles and 4-1 doubles in her first season as a Gov.
- Reached the B Draw doubles final of the Ohio Valley Regional Tournament with Brittney Covington.
- Made a deep run to the semifinals of the B Draw in the Ohio Valley Regional Tournament as well, winning her four matches in straight sets.

Daughter of Dietmar and Beate Schmidt… has one sibling, Vanessa… born Aug. 31… a Marketing major.
