2021 (Redshirt Junior): A consistent and reliable anchor for the Governors on the offensive front, starting all 10 games he appeared in… Appeared at left guard in the first four games of the season before shifting outside and finishing the year at left tackle… Was one of four season-long captains for Austin Peay… Earned his second-consecutive First Team All-OVC nod after leading an offensive line group that became the No. 18 passing team in the FCS, averaging 70 yards more than the next closest passing offense and also led the OVC in points per game (32.6), passing yards per game (273.6), passing efficiency (129.3) and offensive yards per game (420.3).
2020-2021 (Redshirt Sophomore): Started all nine games, with three starts in the fall coming at guard before moving to tackle during the spring... Became the fourth offensive lineman since Austin Peay rejoined the OVC in 2007 to be named First Team All-OVC (Kyle Anderton, Blake Mitchell, Stanley Brooks)... Named HERO Sports FCS Sophomore All-America and AFCA Second Team FCS All-America... Allowed just one sack and four QB pressures on 457 snaps during OVC play... Anchored an offensive front that averaged a conference-best 29.7 points per game in the spring and ranked second in passing yards per game (224), rushing yards per game (154) and total offense per game (377).
2019 (Redshirt Freshman): An OVC All-Newcomer selection at guard… played in all 15 games, starting 14 of them, with his Austin Peay debut coming in the season opener against North Carolina Central (Aug. 29)… anchored the inside of an Offensive Lineman that allowed an OVC-low 14 sacks on the season, while playing two more games than any other team in the conference… was a significant part of a Governors offense that set program records in total offense (6,288 yards), rushing touchdowns (34), and passing touchdowns (32).
2018 (Freshman): Did not see action, redshirted.
High School: Played offensive lineman for coach Robert Akins at Ringgold HS… named all-state as a senior… also named all-region as a junior and a senior.
Personal: Michael Hartman Williams is the son of Kim Williams and Michael C. Williams… Birthday is March 20… has two siblings: Katie and Reid… His father played football at Georgia Southern… His grandfather, Gerald Shutters, played at Middle Tennessee… His brother Reid is an offensive lineman at Chattanooga in 2020… A management major.
