2022: Played in all 11 games and made seven starts at cornerback… Recorded four tackles – all solo stops – in the season opener at Western Kentucky (Aug. 27)… Started a streak of three-straight games with a pass breakup when he posted a pair of tackles and one pass breakup against Murray State (Oct. 15)… Had five tackles and a pass breakup against Jacksonville State (Oct. 29)… Posted career-bests with seven tackles – including five solo stops – and three pass breakups at North Alabama (Nov. 5)… Recorded a pair of tackles at Kennesaw State (Nov. 12)… Finished the season with 21 tackles and five passes defended.
2021: Played in all 11 games during first season in Clarksville… Recovered a fumble at Murray State (Oct. 23)… Recorded two solo tackles at Tennessee State (Nov. 13)… Finished the season with six tackles.
Prior to Austin Peay: A transfer from Georgia Tech who appeared in seven games as a Yellow Jacket… Redshirted as a freshman in 2017… Appeared in two games in 2018 and made a tackle against Louisville (Oct. 5, 2018)… Made five appearances in 2019, recording a tackle against Temple (Sept. 28, 2019).
High School: Played under Matt Dickman at Harrison High School… Named First Team All-Region by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution as a senior in 2016 after being an honorable mention the year prior… Also competed in track and field during his prep career.
Personal: Robert Devin Smith is the son of Gwen and Robert Smith… Birthday is Sept. 23… Has a brother, Ryan, who is a defensive end at Duke… Father, Robert, played football at Newberry… Earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Georgia Tech in May 2021… Pursuing a master’s degree in strategic leadership at Austin Peay.
