As a graduate student in 2022-23: One of four Governors to play in all 10 tournaments, she ranked third on the team with 25 of her 29 rounds played counting toward the team score… ranked third on the team with a 76.45 stroke average and her three rounds at even or under par were tied for fourth best on the team… opened the season by shooting a 222 (73-74-75) and finishing tied for 45th place at the GolfWeek Fall Challenge… paced the Governors at the F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate with a score of 225 (80-70-79) and a third-place finish – the best finish of her career… recorded her second-straight top-10 when she helped the Govs win the Butler Fall Invitational with a score of 228 (75-76-77) and a seventh-place finish… shot a 220 (74-71-75) and finished tied for 25th at the Lady Red Wolves Classic… helped the Govs win the Charles Braun Intercollegiate with a score of 164 (84-80) and a 33rd-place finish… used a career-low 70 in the second round of the Huntsville.org Intercollegiate to post a score of 223 (78-70-75) and finish tied for 16th… helped the Governors in another win a the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate, shooting a 235 (74-80-81) and finishing tied for 30th place… carded the second-best score by a Gov when she shot a 230 (75-81-74) and finished tied for 22nd at the Babs Steffens Invitational… carded a 234 (77-80-77) and finsiehd tied for 67th to help the Governors close the regular season with a win at the Colonel Classic… shot a 232 (76-76-80) and finished tied for 27th at the ASUN Women’s Golf Championship.Â
As a senior in 2021-22: Earned her second All-OVC selection after playing in the lineup for Austin Peay in all 11 tournaments… posted one round under par and had 22 of her 28 rounds count towards the team score – which was tied for the second-best mark on the team… her 77.36 stroke average was the fourth-best mark on the team and the 11th-best mark in the OVC… finished tied for 19th at the F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate after shooting a 231 (78-79-74)… helped the Governors win the Butler Fall Invitational by shooting a 221 (73-74-74) – the best three-round score of her career – and finishing tied for eighth… opened with a career-best, one-under 71 at the Lady Red Wolves Classic en route to a score of 222 (71-78-73) and a 20th-place finish… recorded a pair of 73 to finish in fourth place with a score of 146 at Tennessee State’s Town & Country Invitational… opened the spring season with two match wins at The Citadel’s Oyster Shuck Match Play… led the Governors at the weather-shortened Jan Weaver Invitational, shooting a 153 (77-76) to finish tied for fourth… carded counting scores in the final two rounds of the OVC Championship to help the Govs win their first conference title, she finished tied for 17th with a score of 233 (80-74-79)… shot a 242 (87-79-76) at the NCAA Franklin Regional and finished tied for 64th in the event.
As a junior in 2020-21: Served as Austin Peay’s top finisher in two of four events… ended the season with Austin Peay’s top overall stroke average (76.92) and top first (75.8) and second (77.0) round stroke averages as well… fired matching 77s in the first two rounds at the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate, finishing with a 235 to share 20th overall… tied for eighth in the event in total pars (32) and ninth in par-4 scoring (4.33 strokes per hole)… opened the Jan Weaver Invitational with a 74… in her Ohio Valley Conference Women’s Golf Championship debut, finished seventh with a 221 (73-73-75); started final round with 13 straight pars… finished as the No. 3 scorer in the entire tournament on par-4 holes (4.03 strokes per hole) and sixth in the tournament with 36 pars.
As a sophomore in 2019-20: Excellent sophomore season yielded first career All-OVC honor… only Gov to count all 22 rounds in 2019-20… 75.4 stroke average in the opening round was team-best… Austin Peay’s top finisher at the Chris Banister Classic and Benbow Invitational… first of the season’s three top-10 finishes came with a tie for sixth at the Greenbrier Invitational, where she shot 227 (77-76-74), improving over all three rounds… took ninth with a 229 (73-78-78) at the F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate… posted third straight top-20 at the Chris Banister Classic, shooting 230 (77-76-77) to share 11th, aided by a tournament-high 37 pars… opened with a season-best one-under 71 at the Lady Red Wolves Classic… closed fall with a tie for 13th at the Town & Country Invitational, shooting 146 (74-72)… a top-100 finish (t-84th) in a swollen field at the Kiawah Island Classic, shooting 227 (76-76-75)… closed season with a sixth-place tie at the Benbow Invitational, shooting 153 (80-73).
As a freshman in 2018-19: Talented newcomer likely will be a lineup mainstay for years to come… earned a top-15 finish with a 236 (77-75-79) in just her second career start at the Greenbrier Invitational, finishing 14th… trio of rounds in the 70s (77-76-79—232) led to a tie for 20th at the F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate… closed fall with a tie for fourth, helping Govs win the Town and Country Invitational, helping the Govs secure back-to-back tournament titles with a 144 (72-72)… after a tough spring, was second among Govs at season’s penultimate event at the Jan Weaver Invitational, shooting a 234 (76-77-81).
Prior to Austin Peay: A two-time All-State performer under Sam Westfall at Madisonville North Hopkins High… scored victories on the Kentucky PGA Junior Tour, Mussellman-Dunne Tour and multiple prep events, in addition to the West Kentucky College Showcase… made history as the first female invited to play the Eli Barron Invitational and took first place in her division.
Personal: Shelby Rhyan Pleasant (née Darnell) is married to Dylan Pleasant... she is the daughter of Bobby and Robin Murray and Brandon and Cayla Darnell… has two siblings: Haleigh Keith and Aden Phillips… born Oct. 12… graduated from Austin Peay with a bachelor’s in communication sciences and disorders in the spring of 2022… is now pursuing a master’s in speech language pathology.
