2025 (Senior)
A 2025 Second Team All-ASUN selection at pitcher following a breakout senior season… Led the Governors’ pitching staff in wins (17), starts (35), complete games (3), shutouts (2), innings pitched (165.1), and ERA (3.30) – all of which were career highs… Her 35 starts were the second-most in program history, led the ASUN, and ranked third nationally following the Govs’ season, while her 42 appearances were third in a single season in program history, second in the ASUN and 14th in the NCAA… One of four Governors in the 2025 senior class who spent all four of their collegiate seasons in Clarksville, ending their careers as the all-time winningest student-athletes in program history with 119, wins a record 57 home victories, and one of just four classes in program history to never have a losing home record… After dropping her first game of the season, went on to win nine-straight games in which she was the pitcher of decision in… First win came against Florida A&M (Feb. 9) at Mercer’s Heart of Georgia Classic, where she tossed 3.2 scoreless innings in relief… Improved to 2-0 on the season following a 5.0-inning, five-strikeout performance against Tarleton State (Feb. 14) at its own Whataburger Invitational… Tossed a career-high seven strikeouts and allowed just one hit in 5.0 innings against Northern Iowa (Feb. 22) at the Furman Classic for her season’s third victory in the circle… Opened the Governors Classic by tossing 4.2 innings in an 8-0 victory against Northern Kentucky (Feb. 28), with four strikeouts… Gave up just one earned run in a win against No. 22 Florida Atlantic (March 1), leading Austin Peay to its first ranked win in program history… Finished the Governors Classic 3-0 following a win after tossing 1.0 inning against Northern Kentucky (March 2)… Threw 5.2 innings in an 83-pitch win against Appalachian State (March 7) at the Cathi Maynard Invitational… Opened ASUN Conference play by tossing 10.2 innings across a pair of starts against Bellarmine (March 13-14), including 6.0 scoreless innings in a 4-0 shutout victory. Finished the week allowing just seven hits, no earned runs, and holding opponents to a .179 batting average to earn her first-career ASUN Pitcher of the Week honor… In the Governors’ next meeting against the Knights (April 4-5), appeared in all three games, tallying a 2-0 record, tossing a combined 12.2 innings and where she did not allow a run and surrendered nine hits and just one extra-base hit… Thew a career-high 131 pitches with a then-career-high 7.1 innings in a 4-1 win at Eastern Kentucky (April 18)… With a start in the series finale against Eastern Kentucky (April 19), she went on to start each of the final 12 games of the season for the Governors in the circle… Pitched a career-high 8.0 innings in a 7-6 win at Tennessee Tech (April 23)… Earned her first-career postseason victory following a seven-inning, complete-game shutout against Jacksonville in Austin Peay’s first game of the ASUN Softball Championship, allowing just three hits against the Dolphins.
2024 (Junior)
Had her best season yet as a junior with career-high marks in appearances (36), wins (6), innings pitched (107.0), and ERA (4.12)… Matched her career’s best mark with 18 starts… Her 36 appearances were the most by a Govs pitcher, while her six wins and 18 starts were best for second amongst APSU hurlers… Allowed four hits and struck out three batters in her first win of the season against Purdue Fort Wayne (Feb. 10)… Had her first of three strikeout performances against Kansas (Feb. 29) while playing 5.2 innings… Did not allow a baserunning in 1.1 innings against IUPUI (March 3) to earn her second win of the season… Played six innings in a win against Rhode Island (March 9) to earn her third win of the campaign… Second four-strikeout performance of the season came in a 1-0 loss to Middle Tennessee, (March 19)… Logged her lone complete game of the season in a win against Florida Gulf Coast (April 27).
2023 (Sophomore)
Appeared in 24 games, including 18 starts in the circle… Won regular season’s final game against Jacksonville State (May 6) to lock Gov into the ASUN Conference’s postseason championship tournament… Pitched four-hit shutout against Southern Indiana (May 2)… Tied career single game best with four strikeouts versus Middle Tennessee (May 12).
2022 (Freshman)
Appeared in 22 games, including seven starts in the circle… Led the team with two saves, coming against Northern Illinois (March 4) and SIUE (May 7) … Became first Govs freshman pitcher to throw a shutout since 2014 season in two-hit, 6-0, win vs. Alabama State (Feb. 11)… Had a career single-game best four strikeouts against Northern Iowa (March 5).
Career Recap: Highland High School
Pitched for coach Glenn Nicholls at Highland High School … as senior led Bulldogs to a 25-1 record and an Illinois Class 3A state Championship … named all-state, all-Metro by St. Louis Post-Dispatch and all-Mississippi Valley Conference First Team … finished season 25-0 in 26 starts, with 0.19 ERA, 16 shutouts and 209 strikeouts in 181 innings pitched … offensively, batted .360 with seven doubles, triple and three home runs, while driving in 21 … as a sophomore, posted a 7-9 record, including a 2.07 ERA, and 116 strikeouts in 108.1 innings pitched, earning first-team all-conference … as a freshman, was named first-team all-conference after posting a 8-8 record, with a 1.60 ERA and 79 strikeouts in 92 innings pitched.

Samantha Hunter Miener is the daughter of Julie and William… Has one sibling: Hannah… Father wrestled at Southern Illinois, while her mother played both volleyball ans softball at St. Thomas… Born Aug. 14.
