AFFIRMATIVE ACTION/EOE STATEMENT

Please be aware the Tennessee Board of Regents REQUIRES an Affirmative Action/EOE statement on all print jobs that meet ANY ONE of the following criteria:

  • The publication is being printed off-campus.
  • Printing and/or design costs exceed $50.
  • The publication is being distributed off campus.
  • The publication is for an on-campus event that is open to the public.

A good rule of thumb and good habit is to include the statement in any publication or electronic communication you produce that is intended to be seen by the public, just to insure compliance with state and federal obligations. The latest Affirmative Action/EOE Statement is available at http://www.apsu.edu/pr-marketing/publication-creation-and-review.

LOCAL STYLE GUIDE

The LetsGoPeay.com style guide defines standards and provides templates for use on the official Austin Peay Athletics Department site. The goal is to convey a consistent image for Austin Peay Athletics. Within the style guide, you will find information to help build and maintain pages at LetsGoPeay.com.

AUSTIN PEAY

Mascot: For all teams, Governors on first reference, Govs on succeeding references.

Possessive Form: Keeping with standard English usage, the possessive forms of the mascots should place the apostrophe after the entire word (e.g. Govs', Governors'). NEVER place the apostrophe before the "s".

University Name: Austin Peay State University is the formal name of the university, Austin Peay may be used. Never use Austin Peay State.

Abbreviation: The preferred abbreviation is APSU to avoid confusion with the Associated Press which uses AP consistently.

Lady Govs: Austin Peay's women's athletics teams formerly used Lady Govs as their mascot. However, this usage has been completely discontinued.

ATHLETICS

Please include the "s" in Athletics when referring to the Austin Peay Athletics Department.
Correct: Austin Peay Athletics Department, Athletics Director
Incorrect: Austin Peay Athletic Department, Athletic Director

Please use LetsGoPeay.com when referencing our official site. Please capitalize each letter that denotes a word (the "L", "G" and "P"). Do not include the "www". This aids in branding our URL.

BIRTHDATES & AGES

For security and privacy reasons, please do not post full birthdays (month, day, and year) for student-athletes, coaches, or staff.

Please do not include ages in bios (for individuals, children, etc.). This aids in security and lengthens the "shelf life" of the content (i.e. it's not immediately outdated after a birthday).

TABLES, ICONS, AND GRAPHICS

You will see tables, icons, and graphics used throughout the site. When creating a table any header rows should be in red. The table body may be in white or "home gray" (see color description below in the "Schedule Tables" section) or you may alternate those two colors.

To use, create a new release and cut and paste these elements into your release. You will see an "x" before and after the content below. Highlight both the "x" before and after the tables to grab the content.

To create only one space between text, tables, etc., click "Shift + Enter" instead of "Enter".

This table can be used to highlight links to related content or multimedia:
