Prior to Austin Peay: Played two seasons at New Mexico (2021-22). 2022: Played in 10 games and made 11 tackles – including seven solo stops – for the Lobos… Recorded a season-best four tackles – with a pair of solo tackles – at LSU (Sept. 24)… Added two more tackles at New Mexico State (Oct. 25). 2021: Redshirted his first year in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
High School: A quarterback, wide receiver, and defensive back for coach Chris Birdwell at Hooks High School… Completed 71 passes for 1,323 yards and 11 touchdowns – with just four interceptions – during his senior season, he also rushed 96 times for 700 yards and four touchdowns... Was named the Hornet’s offensive MVP following his senior campaign in 2020… Was named a Texas Sports Writers Association 3A All-State Honorable Mention at defensive back following his junior season in 2019… Was ranked a three-star recruit by 247Sports.com and a two-star recruit by Rivals.com as an athlete… Also lettered in basketball, baseball, and track & field… Was named the Hornet’s Offensive Player of the Year on the basketball court in 2020.
Personal: Benjamin Paul Johnson II is the son of Ben and Theresa Johnson… Birthday is Feb. 21… Has one brother, Jordan, who played football at Army West Point… An accounting major.
