2020-21 (Sophomore): Joined Scotty Walden’s football program in the spring… Did not see action in his first season.
2019 (Freshman – Baseball): Originally came to Austin Peay as a pitcher for Travis Janssen’s baseball program… Did not see the mound in his freshman campaign.
High School: A quarterback for J.R. Kirby at Covington High School… Led the Chargers to back-to-back TSSAA Class AAA State Championship games in 2017 and 2018… An All-State selection by the Tennessee Football Coaches Association as a senior after throwing for 757 yards and 12 touchdowns and running for 434 yards and 15 touchdowns… Was named one of 11 scholar-athletes by the Memphis Chapter of The National Football Foundation… A catcher, outfielder, and pitcher on the baseball field, he also helped lead Covington to three consecutive Class AA State Tournament appearances, winning the title in 2019 after runner-up finishes in 2017 and 2018… Posted four hits and five RBI in 2019 state tournament, going 2-for-4 with two RBI in championship game… Batted .390 with two home runs, 28 RBI and 34 runs scored as a senior… Was named to All-Region 8 team as a senior and an All-Region 7 pick as a junior by Tennessee Baseball Report… Hit .410 with 51 runs scored and 27 RBI as a junior en route to an All-Metro Second Team selection by the Commercial Appeal… Was named to Tennessee Baseball Report’s Super Freshman/Sophomore Team in 2017 after batting .395 with 48 runs scored and 34 RBI as a sophomore.
Personal: Sterling Brock Lomax is the son of Ken Lomax and Caroline Nelson… Birthday is Dec. 12… Has two siblings, Tyler and Garrett… His father, Ken, was a member of the Middle Tennessee baseball team… An applied exercise science major.
