Prior to Austin Peay: Spent four seasons at Wyoming, making 31 total appearances… Spent his first two seasons in Laramie on the offensive side of the ball before moving to defense and contributing on special teams his previous two seasons… Was a three-star recruit ranked No. 19 in the state of Missouri by 247 Sports, playing wide receiver and defensive back at John Burroughs High, where he ws coached by his father John Merritt… Was named First Team All-State Class 4 by the Missouri Football Coaches Association (MFCA) his senior season as a kick returner.

Personal: Caleb Coleman Merritt is the son of Tamala and John Merritt… Birthday is Sept. 5… Has two siblings, Tre and Ella.... Graduated from Wyoming in 2026... Pursuing a master's degree in leadership.
