2024: A Second Team All-UAC selection at kicker… Played in all 12 games as the Governors' placekicker and kickoff specialist... Lone kickoff of the season opener against Louisville (Aug. 31) was for a touchback… Connected on his first-career field goal from 33 yards out against Southern Illinois (Sept. 7) and went 2-for-2 on PATs… Hit a 39-yard field goal at Central Arkansas (Sept. 14), while making both of his PATs and going 3-for-3 on touchbacks… Made his first-career field goal from 40 yards out on a 41-yard make against Alabama A&M (Sept. 21)... Also had a season-high 645 kickoff yards against AAMU with six touchbacks on 10 attempts and went 8-for-8 on PATs, becoming the first Governors with at least five made PATs in a game since Maddux Trujillo against North Alabama in 2023... Made 39 and 51-yard field goals, was 1-for-1 on PATs, and had four touchbacks on as many attempts at Utah Tech (Oct. 19) to earn UAC Special Teams Player of the Week honors for the first time... Connected on a career-long 53-yard field goal against Tarleton State (Oct. 26), it was the third-longest field goal in program history, trailing only 55-yard field goals by Maddux Trujillo (10/29/22) and Brian Yarbrough (9/24/83)... The 53-yard field goal also was the 15th-longest in the FCS and fourth-longest in the UAC in 2024… Went 2-for-2 on field goals against Abilene Christian (Nov. 9), with makes from 29 and 33 yards out… Again was perfect on a pair of attempts a week later against Eastern Kentucky (Nov. 16), connecting on field goals from 31 and 23 yards… Also recovered a fumble on one of his five kickoff attempts against EKU... Made his lone attempt of the season finale against Chattanooga (Nov. 23) from 35 yards... Finished the season 13-of-20 on field goals and 32-of-33 on PATs, while kicking off 56 times for a 63.6-yard average with 36 touchbacks... Ranked 10th in the UAC with 71 points and 12th with 5.9 points per game – led the Governors in both categories... Averaged 1.08 made field goals per game, which ranked 35th in the FCS and led the UAC... His 13 made field goals led the UAC and were the third-best single-season total in APSU history... Also recorded the third-most field goal attempts and 10th-best field goal percentage (.650) in a season in program history... Totaled the eighth-most made PATs, ninth-most PAT attempts, and the seventh-best PAT percentage (.970) in a season in APSU history.
Prior to Austin Peay: Spent three seasons at East Carolina (2021-23) and did not see action for the Pirates.
High School: Was a kicker for head coach Adam Hodge at Southpoint High School… Was twice named the Southwestern 2A Kicker of the Year… Also played soccer and golf for the Red Raiders.
Personal: Carson Lenwood Smith is the son of Chuck and Amy Smith… Birthday is March 6… Has two siblings, Jordan and Hunter… Brother, Jordan, is a professional Motocross and Supercross racer for Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing… A leadership science major with a concentration in leading people.
