Luke Goodwin

In his second season in Clarksville, Luke Goodwin is taking on a larger role, as he will continue to coach the nickelbacks, but he will now assume special teams coordinator duties as well.

As the starting nickelback in 2017, Malik Boynton finished his Austin Peay career with a strong campaign, finishing fifth on the team with 51 total tackles. He also forced three fumbles, recovered two fumbles and picked off a pass in his final season.

The North Carolina graduate will brings more than seven years of coaching experience to the Governors defensive units, specifically serving four seasons with Cincinnati under head coach Tommy Tuberville. He worked with the linebackers and secondary and served as a quality of control assistant.

Prior to his stop at UC, Goodwin spent the 2012-2013 seasons at Texas Tech where he oversaw the linebackers. During his days as a Tar Heel, he served as a graduate assistant assisting with the linebackers.

Goodwin is a native of Newton, North Carolina and married his wife, Mallory, in 2013.
