Matt Wright enters his second season as the tight ends coach at Austin Peay after spending four seasons with Lindsey Wilson College in a similar role.
Wright oversaw the emergence of freshman Trey Pruitt at the tight end spot, as he started four of the final five games of the year and recorded a touchdown reception. The tight end group proved versatile blockers for the Austin Peay rushing attack that ranked sixth in the FCS and set a school record with 3,105 yards.
During his time with the Blue Raiders, Wright served as the head strength coach, co-special teams coordinator, assistant recruiting coordinator and offensive line/run game coordinator in addition to serving his primary role as the tight ends coach. Wright coached as a graduate assistant for Lindsey Wilson in 2013-2014.
As a student assistant at Monmouth College in 2012, Wright served as the video coordinator and helped with the offensive line, tight ends and running backs.
Wright is a 2011 graduate of Monmouth, where he was an offensive lineman for the football program for four seasons. During his time with the Fighting Scots, Wright earned All-Midwest Conference honorable mention honors his senior season, as well as helping lead Monmouth to three Midwest Conference championships and three playoff appearances.
