2021 (Redshirt Sophomore): Started 10 games at center for the Governors during the 2021 season… Key component of an offensive line group that paved the way to Austin Peay leading the OVC in points per game (32.6), passing yards per game (273.6) and offensive yards per game (420.3).
2020-2021 (Redshirt Freshman): Appeared in all nine games and started all six OVC contests at center… Earned his first career start OVC opener against Tennessee Tech (Feb. 21)… Commanded the offensive line from the center position and was a key blocker for the OVC’s highest-scoring program during the spring at 29.7 points per game... Led the way for the Governors’ offense which ranked second in passing yards per game (224), rushing yards per game (154) and total offense per game (377).
2019 (Freshman): Did not see action in 2019, redshirted.
High School: Was an offensive lineman for Rick Darlington at Apopka High School… Second Team Class 8A selection at center as a senior… Two-time FHSAA Class 2A state qualifier in weightlifting.
Personal: Jacob Taylor Caughell is the son of Bill and Mary Caughell… Birthday is March 23… has two siblings: Billy and Jamie… brother Billy was a linebacker at Richmond (2015-19) and father was a linebacker at Penn (1986-88)… A finance major with a minor in marketing.
