Biography

College: Played in nine games during 2010 at left tackle... one of Govs most consistent offensive linemen, but struggled with penalties early in season... helped offensive line improve to allow only nine sacks-second best in OVC and eighth nationally-in 2010, down from 21 the previous season... blocked for rushing game that ranked third in OVC, averaging 167.1 yards-per-game... knee injury limited late-season performance... underwent offseason knee surgery and sat out spring practice... moved into starting lineup at left tackle in 2009 after serving as utility player previous season...helped serve as key element in producing two first-team All-OVC running backs in Ryan White and Terrence Holt... was Govs' utility lineman early in 2008 season before playing a integral part down the stretch...when starting left tackle Cage Major incurred injuries, stepped in at key left tackle spot and provided quality performance...incurred ankle sprain prior to spring practice start but finished workouts strong...came to APSU as walk-on...High School: Played center and nose guard for Jackie Bledsoe at Dickson County...earned All-Mid State and All-State as enior...chosen Region 6 5A Offensive Lineman of Year...Personal: Health and human performance major...son of James Barker Sr....born March 3, 1989...age 22
