Biography

College: Continues to be key contributor on both defense and special teams...has been shifted in Govs new defensive scheme to weakside safety...was credited with 11 tackles a year ago, including three in opener against North Dakota State...serves as holder on APSU placekicks...also has become adept at kick blocking...in Govs’ win at Eastern Illinois, blocked punt that was returned by Ricky Thomas for a TD...a week later, blocked punt against Southeast Missouri that was returned by Kevis Buckley for score...worked his way onto field as sophomore in nickel and dime packages...had two pass break ups and 13 tackles in 2007...also assumed duties as holder on place kicks...in addition played on kick coverage teams...as freshman walk-on became special teams contributor, appearing in four games...was shifted to linebacker during Spring 2007 and enjoyed solid practice performance...High School: Running back and strong safety for Larry Stephens at Powell High School...earned all-region as senior and was team MVP...Personal: Communications Arts major...previous member of Athletics Director’s Honor Roll in spring...son of Celi Courtney...born June 17, 1988...age 21.
