2019 (Redshirt Senior): Shattered his own season records, connecting on 67-of-67 extra point attempts… led the Ohio Valley Conference with 103 total points scored, which is the second-best single-season mark in program history… made a career-high 12 field goals, including a career-long 49-yarder against NC Central (Aug. 29)… kicked off ten times, averaging 49.9 yards with one touchback… concludes his Austin Peay career as the program leader in PAT kicks made (159) and PAT kicks attempted (167), he also ranks second all-time in total point scored (234), PAT kick percentage (95.2%), and field goal percentage (62.5%).
2018 (Redshirt Junior): Tied his own then program highs set in 2017, by connecting on 41-of-43 extra point attempts… set a program record by hitting on all 10 of his extra point attempts at Morehead State (Sept. 15)… named OVC Specialist of the Week after hitting both of his field goal attempts against Eastern Kentucky (Nov. 3), each from 40-plus, including a 45-yarder that tied his career high… hit 5-of-7 field goal attempts on the year… finished second on the team with 56 points scored… assumed kickoff duties during the second half of the season.
2017 (Redshirt Sophomore): Blew away the single-season records for most PATs converted (41) and attempted (43) on the strength of the highest-scoring offense in school history... tied the school record with eight PATs made in a game against Morehead State (Sept. 16)… the following week at Murray State, converted both field goal attempts, including a season-long 45-yarder... also hit all three PAT attempts for a season-high nine points scored... notched eight points against Southeast Missouri (Oct. 21) on a 36-yard field goal make and five extra points
2016 (Sophomore):Â Redshirted in his second season in Clarksville.
2015 (Freshman): Hard worker made the most of his chances, converting 5-of-7 field goal attempts as a freshman… first made attempt came against Eastern Illinois on a 27-yard try… hit four straight to close the season—2-for-2 at Tennessee State and had makes against Southeast Missouri and Tennessee Tech… hit career-long 35-yard attempts against TSU and TTU… also assumed punting duties during the season opener against Mercer, averaging 32 yards in four attempts with Evan Toby out due to injury.
High School: Kicked for Shawn Witten at Elizabethton (Tenn.) High School… 152-for-162 on career PAT’s, once making 62 in a row (third-longest streak in TSSAA history)… 2013 all-conference kicker for the two-time conference champions… Team Tennessee kicker for the 2015 Tennessee-Kentucky Border Bowl… an accomplished tennis player, was 2013 and 2014 district tennis runner-up, 2013 conference doubles runner-up and 2014 all-conference honoree… six-time TSSAA Academic Achievement Award winner for maintaining a 3.5 GPA or better while participating in high school sports.
Personal: Son of Johnny and Crystal Birchfield… born June 23… plans to major in health administration… graduated in May 2019 with a degree in general studies with minors in health and engineering tech… pursuing second degree in leadership.
