College:  Returns for third season as starting center... named preseason All-OVC for 2011...has developed tremendous strength... will be tasked with mentoring group of young lineman coming off redshirt seasons... guided offensive line to another strong season, making way for one of the OVC's top rushing efforts-Govs were ranked third in OVC on ground, averaging 167.1 yards-per-game... also improved line allowed only nine sacks (eighth best in FCS) in 2010, down from 21 the previous year... took over as starting center in 2009... anchored offensive line that developed a pair of first-team All-OVC running backs in Ryan White and Terrence Holt... provided holes for White to rush for 1081 yards and Holt for 793 yards...laid blocks for eight run plays longer than 30 yards and three runs longer than 50 yards... as a result of depth issues, young lineman got an early indoctrination in first APSU season in 2008...played behind three-year starting center Travis Dumke, gaining valuable knowledge about position... High School: Offensive and defensive lineman for Bruce Lussier at Father Ryan High School...named All Mid-State as senior...also chosen to Tennessee Football Coaches Association and Sports Writers Association All-State Division II team...selected to play in Tennessee Toyota East/West All-Star Classic....Personal: Biology major...four-time member of Athletics Director's Honor Roll...son of Chris and Waldi Schmid...born Nov. 1, 1989...age 21...turns 22 Tuesday before the Central State contest.
