Biography

College: Returns to backup quarterback role in final season... will serve as mentor to sophomore quarterback Jake Ryan... smart football player with ability to read and understand coverages... completed 19-of-38 passes for two TDs... led Govs to season-opening win against Newberry... completed 6-of-12 passes for 84 yards, including 25-yard TD strike... went 13-of-23 with 158-yards passing and a TD at Youngstown State... entered Fall 2009 as No. 1 quarterback after ending 2008 in that position...staved off trio of competitors to hold onto to starting spot...began 2008 season as No. 3 on depth chart but worked his way into starting lineup, starting final four games...led Govs to team's only two wins...in four starts, completed 51 of 82 passes (63 percent) for 696 yards...in season's first start against Tennessee Tech, completed 14 of 20 passes for 217 yards and four TDs, including 75 yarder... also threw two more TD passes the following week at Jacksonville State...threw all seven TD passes during his four starts and just one interception during those quartet of games...did not appear in season's first five games...gained time after incumbent Gary Orr suffered thumb injury...saw season's first action against Eastern Kentucky, completing six-of-seven passes for 52 yards off bench...played in four games as a freshman in 2007...compiled 191 yards on 14-of-30 passing... strong quarterback with good football sense...emerged early in the 2007 season...in fact, replaced injured starter Mark Cunningham at Gardner-Webb in the second quarter...went 11-for-20 for 163 yards and a TD... made his first career start the following week at Tennessee Tech...High School: Played quarterback for legendary Carton Flatt, an APSU alum, at Brentwood Academy...led Brentwood Academy to TSSAA Division II State Championship and 11-1 overall mark in 2006....completed 91 of 144 passes for 1,265 yards and 12 touchdowns...also rushed 68 times for 308 yards and 10 touchdowns...named "Offensive Most Valuable Player" for the 2006 championship game and was named to the All-State team and the Williamson A.M.'s All-Area Co-MVP... transferred to Brentwood Academcy from Aledo High School...led team to Texas Class 4A semifinals as junior...named first-team all-district over current Ole Miss quarterback Jevan Snead...Personal: Mass Communication broadcast media major...member of Athletics Director's Honor Roll during spring...son of Jeff and Sandy Caffee...born July 27, 1988...age 21.
