Academics: AD Honor Roll (S16)
2015: Linebacker last spotted working with the defensive ends during spring ball; could use athleticism to become a speed rusher… enters junior season six tackles away from 100 for his career after recording 41 as a sophomore… after combining for eight tackles in his first three games, tallied eight, including a shared tackle for loss, at Eastern Kentucky… four tackles (one for loss) at Murray State… filled the stat line with four tackles (two for loss) and a fumble recovery against Jacksonville State… finished the regular season with a flourish, recording five tackles (one TFL) and a pass break-up at Tennessee State, five tackles (one TFL) against Southeast Missouri and seven tackles at Tennessee Tech.
2014: On a young defense, led all freshmen with 53 tackles… made six solo stops in his debut at Memphis… had four tackles (one for loss) and a fumble recovery in the home opener against Chattanooga… had season-high seven tackles on three occasions: on the road against UT Martin and Southeast Missouri and at home against Jacksonville State, who he also forced a fumble and added a tackle for loss against.
High School: Played linebacker for Scott Cummings at West High School…2012 Class 5A All-State selection after leading West High School to a 9-3 record, finishing with 71 tackles, including 17 for loss, with seven sacks and an interception…two-time All-PrepXtra First Team by the News Sentinel…two-time all-district selection also twice was chosen district defensive lineman of the year….as junior was credited with 84 tackles, including 28.5 tackles for loss (11.5 sacks) in helping West to the Class 5A state semifinals.
Personal: Art major… son of Phil Stuart…born Sept. 10… his father Phil played offensive line at Tennessee while his brother Alex was an offensive lineman at Middle Tennessee.
