As a junior in 2007: After a fantastic sophomore year, junior campaign was a struggle...still
managed three top-40 finishes... opened the season at the Belmont
Opener with a time of 16:17.34 in the 5-kilometer race, finishing 32nd...finished
36th at the Old Timer’s Classic with a mark of 27:06.44...had season-best
8-kilometer time of 26:59.32 at the OVC Championships, where he finished 36th.
As a sophomore in 2006: As the Govs No. 1 runner, Sexton led Austin Peay in four of their seven events... posted a .630 winning percentage, recording four top-40 finishes... his season-best 8K time of 25:17.69 and 5K time of 15:46.68 were both team-bests... claimed a 20th-place finish at the Belmont Opener where he recorded his 5K season-best... placed second overall (26:37) at the Screaming Eagle Memorial Invitational, where he led five Govs in the top-10... posted a 37th-place finish with a season-best time of 25:17.69 to lead the Govs at the Auburn Invitational... finished a disappointing 28th (27:03) at the O’Reilly OVC Championships.
As a freshman in 2005: Opened his collegiate career with two consecutive second-place finishes in the Govs line-up, including a 34th-place finish at the Belmont Invitational followed by a 40th-place finish at the Memphis Twilight... after that, Sexton stepped up to lead the Govs twice during the season, including a third-place finish at the Commodore Classic, posting a personal-best time of 25:48.22 in the 8K and a 12th-place finish (27:08.00) at the Rhodes Invitational.
Prep: Was twice named Sumner County Runner of the Year... three times named to the all mid-state and all-state teams... at Station Camp High School, team won state championship.
Personal: Son of Teresa Parker and Robert Sexton... born July 23, 1987... majoring in history.
