Biography
2011-12: Govs best per-round average, Korte clocked in at 73.15 on his way to All-OVC first-team honors... Finished in the top 10 on six occasions... Led the Govs by shooting under par in three tournaments... Averaged a 72.5 second round in 11 opportunities... Was ninth out of 75 competitors at the John Telich Sr. CSU Invite, shooting a 73 in the single-round event... Was 10th at the Bearcat Invitational with a two-over par 218 (72-73-73)... Runner-up at the Samford Intercollegiate, shooting a season-low round of 68 followed by a 75-70 to finish three-under par... Tied for ninth in the Triumph at Pauma Valley, shooting a 223 (74-75-74)... Led the Govs to a third-place team finish at the COG Mizzou Intercollegiate where he came in runner-up with a six-under par 210 (70-69-71)... Came in fourth at the OVC Championships, firing a two-under 214 (70-72-72) as one of just two competitors to shoot even par or better in all three rounds of the tournament... Had eight rounds of even par or better in his last four tournaments played.
2010-2011: As a sophomore, Korte was named to the All-OVC second team…he was the only Governors player to have every round count for the team (16/16)…finished as the Govs’ low scorer in three consecutive spring tournaments…he finished second on the team with four top-20 finishes, including two top-15 finishes…his .671 win percentage was the best on the team…finished third on the team with a 73.94 stroke average…he was the only Governor to record a top-5 finish after shooting a 214 (71-65-78) at the Grub Mart-Young Oil Intercollegiate to finish fourth...his second-round of 65 was his season’s lowest round…finished the season with five rounds below par…he did not compete during the fall season…began his freshman campaign by shooting a 228 (80-72-76) at the USF Invitational to finish 71st…recorded his first top-20 finish at the Triumph at Pauma Valley after firing 225 (70-80-75) to finish 19th…shot a two-round score 145 (75-70) at the ASU Red Wolf Intercollegiate to finish 26th…finished 18th at the Earl Yestingsmeier Invitational after firing 225 (73-73-79)…at the OVC Championships he shot a two-round score 146 (76-70) to finish 17th.
2009-10: As a freshman, Korte was the Govs second-best golfer throughout the season… his 76.19 stroke average and .439 win-percentage were both second behind then-senior Erik Barnes… he played his best round at APSU’s home tournament, the F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate, with a second-round 69…for the event, he shot 74-69-75=218 for a 18th-place finish, the first of three top-20 finishes… the second came at the ASU Red Wolf Intercollegiate, when he finished 19th with his best three-round aggregate (217)… Korte’s only top-10 finish came at the Ohio Valley Conference Golf Championships when he fired consistent rounds of 73-74-74 for a 221 to finish ninth.
High School: A three-time All-State selection at Massac County High School... led his team to a Class AA Illinois State Championship in 2006, finishing runner up in the tournament... finished seventh, invidually, in 2007 as his team finished second... recorded a second-place finish, individually as a senior...averaged 35 strokes per round as a junior and 35.5 as a senior... was ranked No. 151 by the American Junior Golf Association... finished second at an AJGA event, shooting a course-record 64 in the opening round... qualified for the U.S. Junior Amateur in Birmingham, Ala... named The Southern Illinoisian's Boys' Golfer of the Year.
