As a junior in 2024-25: The 2025 ASUN Conference Men’s Golfer of the Year and a First-Team All-ASUN selection... was the first Gov to earn a conference player of the year award since Marco Iten was named the 2014 Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Year… also was the first Gov to earn ASUN Golfer of the Year and First Team All-ASUN honors since APSU joined the conference in 2022… led the Governors with a 70.66 scoring average, 14 rounds in the 60s, 22 rounds at even or under par, and a counting score in 29-of-32 rounds played… also had a team-best 728-119-12 (.860) record against the field… shot a bogey-free, 15-under 201 (66-67-68) to win the Golfweek Fall Challenge in his Austin Peay debut… posted the third-best 36-hole score (133) and fourth-best 54-hole score (201) in APSU history at the Golfweek Fall Challenge… his win at the Golfweek Fall Challenge marked the first time an Austin Peay men’s golfer had won individual medalist honors since Marco Iten won the 2014 NCAA Auburn Regional… Earned his first of three ASUN Men’s Golfer of the Week awards after winning in his APSU debut… posted his second of six-straight top-five finishes to open his APSU career when he shot six-under 138 (71-67) and finished tied for fifth at the Grover Page Classic… finished tied for fourth with a score of 11-under 205 (64-70-71) at the Bubba Barnett Intercollegiate… his first-round score of 64 in the first round of the Bubba Bartnett Intercollegiate is tied for the third-best 18-hole score in APSU history… finished second at The Buddy with a score of 10-under 203 (69-66-68)… posted the eighth-best 36-hole score (135) and the sixth-best 54-hole score (203) in program history at The Buddy… closed the fall season with a fifth-place finish and a score of three-over 213 (71-69-73) at the Xavier Invitational… beat Murray State’s Jay Nimmo, 3&2, to help the Governors secure a 6-4 victory over the Racers in the Battle of the Border… carded a three-over 219 (72-72-75) and finished tied for fourth at the Daytona Beach Intercollegiate… led the Govs with a 14th-place finish and a score of one-over 214 (67-74-72) at the GCU Invitational… Went 3-0 at the Sweetens Cove Intercollegiate Match Play… beat Ohio’s Sam Hogan, 1Up, to help the Govs beat the Bobcats 4.5-1.5 in their opening match of the Sweetens Cove Intercollegiate… then picked up a 3&2 win over Seton Hall’s George Fricker and an 8&6 win over Murray State’s Kamaren Cunningham in a pair of matches the Governors dropped… carded a two-over 218 (74-68-76) and finished tied for third at the Memphis Intercollegiate… closed the regular season with a third-place finish and a score of 209 (71-69-69) at the A-State Spring Invitational… led the Govs with a 24th-place finish and a score of two-under 214 (69-73-72) at the ASUN Men’s Golf Championship… became the first Austin Peay men’s golfer to qualify for the NCAA Men’s Golf Championship as an individual without winning a conference title when he was one of 45 individuals to qualify for the 2025 NCAA Men’s Golf Championship… finished tied for 65th with a score of 227 (71-77-79) at the NCAA Men’s Golf Championship Urbana Regional.
Prior to Austin Peay: Began his collegiate career at Ole Miss (2022-24)… Played in 10 tournaments for the Rebels as a freshman, posting a 72.17 scoring average, six rounds in the 60s, and 13 rounds at even or under par in 10 appearances… recorded a 72.58 scoring average with four rounds in the 60s and eight rounds at even or under par in eight appearances as a sophomore at Ole Miss… prepped at Clarksville Academy, where he was a five-year varsity letterwinner… won two TSSAA Division II-A State individual State Championships at Clarksville Academy… was a five time all-district selection at CA and earned all-area boys golfer of the year honors during his sophomore, junior, and senior seasons… helped lead the Cougars to a pair of state tournament appearances, in addition to district and region titles during his senior season… was ranked the No. 2 recruit in the state of Tennessee for the class of 2022, while ranking No. 57 overall in the Rolex American Junior Golf Association Rankings.
Personal: Patton Ray Samuels is the son of Scott and Dianna Samuels… has one sibling, Wyatt… his father, Scott, played baseball at Motlow State Community College before transferring to Austin Peay for his final two seasons (1992-93)… born Sept. 15.
